Launched in 2024, the program is a dynamic initiative to cultivate the next generation of public service leaders. The program offers a unique opportunity for graduating seniors from eligible higher academic intuitions embarking on a fulfilling career in public service within the DC government.

The inaugural program selected 25 standout seniors from local universities for a year-long apprenticeship with DC government agencies and DC Water. This also featured hands-on training, valuable mentorship, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

As part of the Public Service Program, selected participants will join a tight-knit cohort, making connections, engaging in community service projects, and leveling up their professional skills.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore a meaningful career path while receiving guidance and support as you learn to navigate the workplace. As part of DC government, you’ll play an important role in helping to shape the city’s future.

The application for the 2025 cohort is now closed. Stay tuned for updates on the application process for the 2026 cohort. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to your application next year!
